The C.O.W.S. Suspected Racist Gavin de Becker's The Gift of Fear Part 1

The Context of White Supremacy hosts our debut study session on Gavin de Becker's international bestseller, The Gift of Fear: And Other Survival Signals That Protect Us from Violence. The 1997 publication was praised by Oprah Winfrey and a litany of other book critics - including a number of C.O.W.S. listeners. de Becker's self-help book encourages readers to listen   to their instincts about potentially harmful individuals. One of the main points of the text is that acts of violence are often preceded by cues that can alert one to violent perpetrators. The author believes we often ignore these cues. Although this book does not directly address White Supremacy/Racism, de Becker makes a point of voice his opposition to so-called "political correctness."
