Episode 94 Chip Bennett A very near miss with diabetes. Finding his way to intermittent fasting and losing over 100 pounds (45Kg)

The Fasting Highway - A podcast by Graeme Currie - Sundays

"Chip is from Avon, Indiana, USA, 44 years old, and 6'2" (188 cm) tall. He is married and the father of two, teen-aged girls. He has always been a healthy person but has struggled with weight since elementary school. After the low-fat, eat-less-move-more 80s and 90s, Chip weighed over 270 lbs (123 Kg) in high school and college. He discovered Atkins and ketogenic diets his senior year of college and lost 80 lbs (36 Kg), reaching a weight of 197 lbs (90 Kg). Despite generally following keto, with age and time, he slowly put on weight through his 20s and 30s. In his 30s he was diagnosed with gout, and in his 40s he was diagnosed with pre-diabetes. During the Covid19 pandemic, he was nearly diagnosed as diabetic and reached his highest weight, 294 lbs (134 Kg) in July 2020. Refusing to go down the diabetes road, Chip realized he needed to make several lifestyle changes to address the insulin resistance and systemic inflammation at the root of all of his metabolic syndrome-related issues. Through those changes, including adopting intermittent fasting, he reversed both the onset of diabetes and the gout from which he had suffered for over a decade. Additionally, he lost over 100 lbs (45 Kg), and is currently 192 lbs (87 Kg).  News. My book about my own story The Fasting Highway is available on Amazon in both paperback and kindle.
