Electronic Music from Radios

The Holmes Archive of Electronic Music - A podcast by Thom Holmes - Sundays

For this episode, I present some recordings from the Archive of works that were composed for radio sounds. We‘ll explore a handful of such works from composers John Cage, Dick Raaijmakers, Karlheinz Stockhausen, Michael Snow, Philip Perkins, and Ann Hamilton. The approaches and practices of each of these composers turns the idea of radio inside out so that it is no longer a mere receiver of information from the outside, but a source of unique musical expression of its own.
