#06 - Balance and the Importance of Rest with Pip Roberts of Now Studio

In this episode, I sit down with a dear friend of mine, Pip Roberts. Yoga and meditation teacher and founder of Now Studio in Bristol, Pip is armed with rituals and resources for relaxation and just taking the stress out of everyday life. I love Pip's approach to everything, but particularly wellbeing as she offers such a real perspective on things that, I believe, have gotten a bit too extreme or intense as they've gained popularity and recognition. I love Pip's ability to find balance in everything she does. When I first tried her yoga a few years ago, I loved how freeing and explorative it was, as apposed to many of the classes I'd tried before which I'd found restrictive, regimented and, well, just a bit over the top. But aside from yoga, Pip has a way of guiding and inspiring people to live their lives whilst incorporating simple practices and habits, without having to completely overhaul their lifestyle, and without having to abide to strict rules or label anything. For anyone sceptical about wellness, yoga, spirituality, mindfulness - the works - this episode is such a breath of fresh air in a world where wellness advice is rife - and at times overwhelming and confusing. Pip puts things so simply. Instead of talking about self betterment, she talks about balance, and instead of working hard to get there, she talks about prioritising softness, slowness and rest. We have a really relaxed and refreshing conversation in this episode, with lots of laughing and lightheartedness. We discuss the importance of not taking things too seriously and not trying too hard. We touch on the path of least resistance and the power of rest. And we also discuss healthy eating patterns, individuality and finding your own authentic flow - not just in yoga but in life.
